iPhone Fold: Apple reportedly banking on a screen “never before seen on the market”

Apple could launch the first foldable smartphone with a "creaseless" screen. A novelty that even Samsung is refusing to embrace.

When you take a closer look at the smartphone market and try to understand its inner workings, you'd better be well-adjusted. While Apple and Samsung are historical enemies and irreconcilable adversaries to the general public, behind the scenes they work hand in hand.

Samsung, in particular, produces a large portion of iPhone screens. The South Korean firm has real expertise in this field, and Apple intends to make use of it. Alongside LG, the company produces hundreds of screens every day, intended not for its Galaxy phones, but for iPhones .

iPhone Fold: Samsung at the helm

Things aren't expected to change with the arrival of the iPhone Fold (expected for next year). Indeed, Apple has reportedly entrusted Samsung to produce the screen for this new model . According to the latest information from Ming-Chi Kuo on the subject, the iPhone Fold could even feature the first "creaseless" foldable screen in history.

Samsung, which has been producing folding screens and smartphones for years, has never integrated this technology into its devices. Even the latest Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7 have a crease in the hinge. According to Kuo, Apple will therefore be entitled to a new screen, one that the company hasn't even used in its own devices.

This new rumor, shared by financial analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, only confirms the initial information provided by journalist Mark Gurman about the iPhone Fold. In a report for Bloomberg, he explained that the iPhone Fold would feature a screen "with a nearly invisible crease."

Apple has reportedly made significant efforts to improve the hinge of its product. It is said to be of "much higher quality" than those currently on the market. Both Apple experts agree that the iPhone Fold should arrive in the fall of 2026.

This will be Apple's first foldable product since the iPhone brand was founded in 2007. According to several rumors, the device is expected to feature a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer display . Touch ID could make a comeback, replacing Face ID, which is too bulky for such a thin phone.
